A hatchling
In memory of the hatchling I found on the pavement early this morning, passed away. You were perfect, so tiny and delicate and beautiful. I wish you had lived and grown and swooped and soared and enjoyed the best of life as a bird. I am so sorry you died; I wish I could have saved you. I am so sorry I didn't bury you when I found you. I wish you peace. I will remember you.
